OUR NEW FARM STORE COMING IN 2024

What is a PMA / Farm Share / CSA?

Five Cardinals Farm operates as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Other terms like ‘farm share’ or ‘private membership association’ can also be used to describe our farm. In short, you become member of our farm and in return you have access to all the products in our store. We’re not open to the public, so only farm members can shop at our store.

What are the benefits of a CSA? Why join?

  • The biggest benefit is connecting you to your food. You’ll know exactly where you food was grown and who grew it.
  • Support a local business
  • Buy fresh, nutrient dense food

How does the Five Cardinals Farm Store / CSA work?

  • We have different membership options, each comes with store credit. When you become a member, you purchase your store credit and then use your store credit to buy items at our farm store. More on this is explained below.

  • Unlike traditional CSAs where members get a weekly box of farm selected items, we allow the customer to pick out the foods they want every week. If you don’t like kale, then you won’t get kale. Need more eggs this week, get more eggs. It’s very much like a local grocery store but you’re paying for your items ahead of time.

  • Why pay up front? Why have the credit option and not cash? This model is similar to other CSAs and the payment upfront allows us to plan out our season specifically for our members. It takes a lot of prep work and weeks of planning to make sure we have all of the crops you want, when you want them.

  • If you run out of store credit mid-year, no worries. We have renewal options for our current members.

We love to show our members the farm. In 2024, we plan on hosting some special events, workshops, and more. Homeschool groups and other organizations are also invited to schedule farm visits. Contact us for more information.

“This past season was our first season for trying out a CSA. We were happy to choose Five Cardinals Farm because we know the quality of their crops and the work that is put behind it for their family.”
